About The National Parks Experience

The National Parks Experience is an independent website dedicated to the national parks, national forests, and other public lands, nature and wildlife conservation, and sustainable outdoor activities.

Unlike many other travel websites on the internet, The National Parks Experience and all its social media channels are created, written, managed, and kept up-to-date by just one person—and that’s me: Bram. You can learn more about me below!

Except for news stories, everything you’ll find on this website is based on my first-hand experience, own research, and many years of accumulated knowledge and expertise.

Through detailed, photo-filled articles, blog posts, and news stories related to the national parks, I hope to inspire you to experience the great outdoors in a sustainable and respectful way.

In addition to this website, I encourage you to check out my social media pages and channels for regular articles, photos, maps, informative links, and news updates.

Hi There, I’m Bram!

FOUNDER & EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Nice to meet you! My name is Bram Reusen. I’m the founder, editor-in-chief, and photographer of The National Parks Experience and I want to help you have the best national parks experience.

Born in Belgium and based in Oregon, I developed a deep love and unwavering appreciation for nature as a young teenager, watching National Geographic documentaries, counting birds in my childhood home’s backyard, and reading all kinds of books about wildlife.

In college, I studied horticulture and eventually obtained a Master of Science degree in Natural Resource Management.

Even before moving to the United States more than a decade ago in 2014, I was passionate about America’s national parks, forests, and other public lands, and the animals that call these places home.

Already fascinated by the great American outdoors, my interest in national parks became an obsession during a six-week cross-country road trip in 2017, which involved visits to no fewer than fifteen national parks. I’ve been exploring parks ever since.

My love for U.S. national parks keeps bringing me to some of the nation’s most spectacular places, where I enjoy camping, stargazing, exploring trails, and immersing myself in nature in a multitude of ways. Additionally, I’m also an avid landscape photographer, as well as an experienced hiker and cyclist.

With many years of all kinds of national park experiences under my belt, I’m an expert on all things related to America’s national parks. The National Parks Experience and my social media channels are where I document my journey to visit all National Park Service sites.

So far, I’ve visited a total 38 national parks, most of which are covered on this website.

The National Parks Experience founder and editor-in-chief Bram Reusen enjoys a spectacular view in Badlands National Park, South Dakota.

Goals & Purpose

Mission

  • To promote national parks and other federal recreation areas.
  • To inspire people to spend more time actively enjoying nature in a sustainable way.
  • To share immersive, in-depth national park experiences.
  • To provide news and recent events related to the national parks.
  • To promote diversity and inclusivity in the great outdoors, including national parks.

Vision

In an increasingly urban, individualized and technology-based world, it’s more important than ever to keep in touch with nature. With informative write-ups, national park-related blog posts and pages, and inspiring photography, The National Parks Experience aims to help you do just that.

After all, there’s no better place to recharge your batteries and find inner peace than a natural environment, particularly America’s national parks.

There’s no sound more beautiful than the crackling of a campfire at night or the crunch of boots on dirt, no smell more invigorating than a meadow of wildflowers or a pine forest in summer, no sight more awesome than a deep, dark canyon or towering mountain range.

No feeling in the world can replace the sensation of being outdoors.

Join me on the adventure and collect a lifetime worth of national park experiences!
