Us photographers have a different view of things when visiting new countries than most people. They prioritize places to see, based on the aesthetics of the location, and the possible shots that they hope to get. That is why cities make such a wonderful stomping ground for the photographically minded. So much going on, so many fascinating structures and contrasts to see. So if you are looking for visually interesting cities to photograph, why not consider Spain? Read on for a short guide including which Spanish cities to visit and why.

Barcelona is an obvious choice for anyone that is visually minded. Not only it is a bustling city, swathed in sunlight. But it also has the additions of the strange and wonderful Gaudi structures.  Such as the Casa Batlló and the Casa Milà. As well, of course, as the world renowned Sagrada Familia.

The advantages of photographing structures such as these is that you can get an interesting contrast in perfective. Do this by taking shots, of the both outside and the inside of the building, or study of how they fit into their immediate surroundings.

It is also possible to go to the Tibidabo Theme Park, where you board the big wheel and take an expansive panoramic shot of the whole city.

Why is Madrid, Spain a great city for the budding photographer? Well, it is mainly because of the wonderful structures in a classical style that dominate the center of the city.

There are many imposing and dramatic building lining the boulevards of Madrid. Such as Buen Retiro Park and the Royal Palace.

Then there are also those little oasis of nature, the parks like Retiro Park and El Capricho Gardens. Which are wonderful for capturing the buzzing wildlife present in the city. As well as the daily interactions between its residents as they relax.

Now, Seville is the South of Spain is another popular location for photographers and artists alike. This is, in no small part because it is the site of the Alcázar Castle.

This huge complex was built in the 11th century and make the perfect subject for some amazing photos. The ornate carvings, pools, and arches, make a wonderful frame for portrait work as well, so be sure to pay a visit if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.

In addition to the ornate Alcázar Castle Complex, there is also the Metropol Parasol in Madrid. This is a modern structure that is as detailed as it is fascinated. Visit around dusk for the best light play on its faceted services.

Lastly, photographers visiting Spain should definitely not miss out on all the variety that Valencia has to offer. There is, of course, the sea and beautiful beaches which always make for excellent landscape shots.

Then there is the L’Oceanogràfic, a huge modern designed aquarium of which you take interesting shots, both in and outside. Not forgetting the gothic city gate the Torres de Serranos. Which is part of the old city built in the 14th century and is definitely well worth a look, and a few pictures.
