10 Photos of the Antrim Coast

First of all, I can’t believe this was already a month ago. I don’t know why, but somehow that makes me sad.

Remember we were spending a weekend in Belfast? Well, no visit to the British part of the Irish island is complete without a visit to the Antrim Coast and its most famous tourist hotspot, the Giant’s Causeway. Which, by the way, is Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We opted to do all this by bus tour. It’s fairly cheap and convenient, but the price you pay is a complete lack of freedom. It’s not that bad though and usually the bus drivers/tour guides are pretty good. (We’ve rented a car too, a couple of times, but in Ireland that’s just way too expensive to do every time.)

But no more talking now, just ten great pictures!

We were extremely lucky with the weather. Sun and a blue sky always make pictures look a lot better ;-)

Mmmm, Bushmills. One of many great brands out of the old country :)

Making me seriously want to hit up Ireland now...I had a fascination when I was younger with all things Gaelic, including the Irish and Scottish histories and Celtic myths...seeing those castles brings back a lot of my earlier research.

Great stuff :)

I still love Celtic and Gaelic stuff too. It's the kind of place filled with fairy tales, legends and battles. Don't know about you, but I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan as well, and after spending three months in Ireland I'm pretty sure that those books are almost entirely based on the Irish culture, language and history.

And don't get me started on Irish and Scottish music! I've been listening to harps, bag pipes, violins and mandolines since I was a little kid, as my dad used to play in a folk band. Absolutely love it.
