This was a fun article to read as a Staunton Native...I think a lot of times, we Stauntonites forget all the fun stuff there is to do in town! I would also recommend restaurants such as Byers Street Bistro, Mill Street Grill, and the Depot Grille (built inside the old train station) for dining if you are to stay in town. These are some favorites of us locals! The Blackburn Inn is a great place to stay. It is built inside the old prison. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff is friendly.

We spent a weekend in Staunton and used it as our home base for Skyline Drive last fall. We arrived Friday night and ate at Byers Street Bistro and then went next door to Shenandoah Valley Brewing Co - we loved both of them. Did Skyline Drive all day Friday packing a picnic lunch. Saturday night we had a blast visiting two wineries in the area - both were fantastic . And had brunch Sunday at the homey Kathy's for down home American breakfast food before we hit the road. Next time we'll have to explore more of the town but this time it was all about Shenandoah. But an excellent weekend anyways!

i live here and the education, scenery, shops are phenominal. Gypsy Hill and Montgomery Hall Parks are quaint. If you come in the summertime 1st Monday in June to the last Mondayin August you can hear the Stonewall Brigade Band, the oldest playing band in the US. I play flute in it. I love to camp in the Shenandoah National Park. If I want big cities Harrisonburg is 20 minutes away and historic Charlottesvillele is 45 minutes away. It's a great place to be an artist.I'm a screenwriter/poet and own Seahorse Publications & Films and it's full of history. I feel it's a great place to raise children(I left Los Angeles to come home to retire.
