- I have some news to share, guys!
- …we’re moving to Charlottesville.
- Charlottesville checked off every box. It has the history, the vibrance of a college town, the beautiful surrounding countryside, the proximity to mountains, the old architecture and the abundance of work-related opportunities that we both are looking for.
- Life’s good!
We’re (finally) moving.
After spending four exploratory days in Charlottesville, Virginia, a trip I announced in this blog post, we’ve decided that…
…we’re moving to Charlottesville.
Those four days were absolutely incredible—they couldn’t possibly have gone any better. Caroline has found a couple of jobs (not just one!) there, and we signed a lease for an apartment yesterday.
We will be packing up here in Vermont and head south during the weekend of March 12-13, which is not a lot more than two weeks from now. It took us a while to find a new home base, but things are moving fast right now.
The opportunities in Charlottesville and surroundings seem to be virtually endless. It’s the perfect place for Caroline to launch her career in the wedding industry, while I (we) will have the best time exploring the vineyard-dotted countryside, Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The presence of the University of Virginia and Monticello, both designed by Thomas Jefferson and making up a UNESCO World Heritage Site, only adds to this small city’s appeal.
I’ve only been there for a handful of days, which by the way were quite rainy, and already I’m raving about Charlottesville. But it is an incredible city. I’ve been overwhelmed by cities that I’ve visited in the past, but this one was only the second—the first one was Asheville, North Carolina—that Caroline and I visited with the aim of actually living there.
It truly does seem to be the perfect place for us right now and we’re excited beyond words to be moving to Charlottesville in about two weeks.
