Zero Gravity Craft Brewery in Burlington, VT
The Zero Gravity Craft Brewery was founded in 2004 (way before the “craft beer hype” in the U.S. began) inside a restaurant in downtown Burlington—American Flatbread Burlington Hearth.
American Flatbread happens to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of Vermont. They serve superb pizzas there, made in a huge wood-fired clay-domed oven. The restaurant’s interior is exceptionally charming and the outdoor seating area, too, is atmospheric and inviting. This simply is a great place to go for (upscale) pizza and beer. I really can’t praise it enough.
The Burlington restaurant is where Zero Gravity originated. It is still the only place where you can sample all Zero Gravity’s craft beers on tap.
There is no combination of food and drinks as perfect as (flat)bread and beer. As far back as Mesopotamia (5,000+ years ago), people were baking bread in ovens and growing grains for brewing beer. In the evenings, people gathered around the ovens and fires, shared bread and beer, and told stories—very much like we still do today. And American Flatbread with its Zero Gravity brewpub is the absolute perfect place in Vermont to keep that ancient tradition going.
In addition to the American Flatbread brewpub, Zero Gravity Craft Brewery has another branch in Burlington. That one is fairly new and located on Pine Street. It includes a canning line, brew house, beer garden, tasting room and merchandise store.
While the Pine Street brewery is a fine place to visit as well, I would strongly encourage you to visit American Flatbread Burlington Hearth first. Simply because it’s much more atmospheric and has great food and a lively bar.
The Brewpub at Flatbread is open every day of the week, from 11.30 am until closing time (which can be quite late). The Pine Street Brewery is open every day, except Tuesdays, from noon to 9 pm (10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays).
