Wind Cave Tours Suspended Due to Elevator Malfunction
Cave tours through Wind Cave are suspended until an elevator transformer can be replaced, according to a press release from the park. The transformer malfunctioned Sunday afternoon, April 27. It is currently unknown how long the replacement will take or when tours will resume.
In the interim, rangers will be offering virtual tours of the Natural Entrance Tour using Lidar technology. Please check the park website for updated program times. This virtual tour is an excellent option for individuals with mobility issues to experience the cave.
Additionally, Wind Cave National Park has new exhibits in the visitor center that tell the story of this land and the people who have lived on it. The park visitor center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours as summer approaches.
