Greening Youth Foundation: Featured Outdoor Diversity Organization

Featured Outdoor Diversity Organization: Greening Youth Foundation

For the month of October, we here at The National Parks Experience, along with several other national park bloggers and podcasters, are highlighting the work of the Greening Youth Foundation (GYF).

This is part of our commitment to showcase organizations that work to create more inclusive public lands and social justice in the outdoors. We invite you to join us in making a donation to GYF and support their important work.

About the Greening Youth Foundation

The Greening Youth Foundation’s mission is to engage under-represented youth and young adults, and facilitate potential jobs and careers related to the outdoors and conservation.

From environmental education to internships, GYF exposes youth to “healthy lifestyle choices in order to create an overall healthy community.”

Through partnerships with land management agencies and outdoor companies, including the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The North Face, GYF provides service and internship opportunities for youth and young adults. The ultimate goal is to set them up for a successful conservation career in the future.

Besides working with these major partners, they also run a number of different programs. Those include The Bridge Project, the Youth Conservation Corps and the Urban Youth Corps.

Additionally, their C.H.I.P. (Collegiate and High-school Internship Program) offers students a C.L.E.A.N. curriculum (Children Living Energetically Advancing Nature).

You can learn much more about their mission, work and programs at gyfoundation.org.
