The Grand Canyon overwhelms everyone. It’s spectacular, its dimensions are mind-boggling. This is a canyon that’s 277 river miles long, 18 miles wide at its widest point, and a mile deep.

It’s the centerpiece and namesake of Arizona’s famous Grand Canyon National Park, which encompasses a section of the Colorado River and both the North and South Rims.

Often considered to be one of the Wonders of the World, Grand Canyon National Park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Almost six million people visit the park each year, making it the second most-visited of all national parks in America.

44-Year-Old Hiker Dies on Bright Angel Trail in Grand Canyon National Park

One of already several fatalities in the national parks this summer season, the National Park Service announced that, on July 14, a 44-year-old hiker on a multi-day hiking trip passed away on Grand Canyon National Park’s popular Bright Angel Trail.

Grand Canyon National Park Reopens East Entrance at Desert View

Grand Canyon National Park officials, who’ve been working with state and tribal officials and community leaders, announced the reopening of the East Entrance. The entrance will be open from Thursday, April 8, 2021. For the time being, though, there were be no services available at Desert View.
