Top 5 Luxury Safari Vehicles

A safari vehicle is exceptionally important. To take a safari in a minibus is akin to trying to drive up a steep icy hill on a scooter, it’s just not good enough. All luxury safari properties have comfortable and specially made safari vehicles which will become your best friend. Some lodges modify their vehicles to make them even more comfortable for guests. Here are a few of our favorite safari vehicles in Africa.

1. Uncharted Africa’s Safari Vehicles, Botswana

Uncharted Safari Vehicle

Many luxury safari vehicles have pop up roofs so that one can stand, but Uncharted went one step further and had comfy safari seats welded onto the top of their 4x4s so guests can sit up top and enjoy 360 degree views of the bush. There isn’t anything more enjoyable than sitting up on the roof and soaking up the sun and sounds of the savannah.

2. Nomad Tanzania’s Private Guides, Tanzania

Nomad Tanzania employ the best private guides in Tanzania to take discerning clients on safari – they also have some of the best vehicles in the business, they come complete with plug points for charging, fridges, pop up roofs for viewing and comfy safari arm chairs.

3. Richard’s Forest and River Camp, Kenya

Richards Camp Safari

Richard Roberts is the famously charismatic owner of these two luxury safari camps in the Masai Mara Kenya. He certainly knows how to make guests comfortable and all his open sided and open topped vehicles are covered in padded leather cow hide, so no matter where you stand there’s something comfy to lean on.

4. Kwando Safaris, Botswana

Kwando recently had their whole fleet of vehicles made over – these vehicles are completely open and offer comfortable seats for everyone in the vehicle maximizing the viewing opportunities for those within.

5. Cottar’s 1920s Safari Camp, Kenya

Cottars Safari

Although you might not be able to go on safari in the Cottars Camp antique safari vehicle, it is fascinating to see what was used in the bush by the first great explorers. It couldn’t be further from what is used today.
